Avis Travel Agent Scholarship 2019

Avis is pleased to announce that applications for the Avis Travel Agent Scholarship 2019 are now open.

The Avis Travel Agent Scholarship is entering its 23rd year of celebrating and rewarding outstanding customer service in the travel industry across Australia and New Zealand. Over the course of its history, the award has developed into one of the most valuable and prestigious accolades offered to professionals in the industry.

This year, applicants will go into the running to be awarded the Scholarship prize valued at over $35 000. This prize includes a range of experiences, including international travel to conferences, professional mentoring for one year, and training opportunities with organisations such as Cruise Lines International Association Australasia (CLIAA).

The Avis Travel Agent Scholarship is designed to be rigorous, transparent and impartial process that explores extraordinary customer service in the travel sector. Individuals are required to answer a series of questions in the most creative way they see fit, highlighting their personal approaches to creative or innovative solutions to customer problems.

The program is now open for applications from full-time travel agents in Australia and New Zealand. Applications will close on Monday 23rd September, with finalists announced on Thursday 10th October. Finalists will then have the opportunity to travel to Sydney – with flights and accommodation covered by Avis – to present to a panel and attend our Awards Gala Dinner on Wednesday 13th November.

Ian Jones, Commercial Director of Avis Budget Group Pacific, said:

“Travel agents are the heartbeat of tourism and in many ways play a key role in creating a great customer experience and in doing so, becoming an extension of the Avis brand.  We are so proud that the Avis Travel Agent Scholarship has an important part in the travel awards calendar and playing a critical role in providing recognition for outstanding customer service.  Along with the portrayal of great stories we see the emergence of wonderful careers.  I love it.”
